Luxury Stay in Muscat: JW Marriott Review, Breakfast & Points Booking Guide

 If you’re planning a luxury stay in Oman and looking for a 5-star hotel in Muscat, my experience at JW Marriott Muscat will help you decide whether it’s worth it — especially if you’re planning to book using Marriott Bonvoy points like I did.

I recently stayed 1 night at JW Marriott Muscat for FREE using points, and thanks to my Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status, I enjoyed a complimentary Junior Suite upgrade, free breakfast, and late checkout — benefits that are not usually guaranteed on award stays.

Booking JW Marriott Muscat with Marriott Bonvoy Points

I booked this stay entirely using 22000 Marriott Bonvoy points, making it a completely free stay.

Being a Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite member, I proactively reached out to the hotel before arrival requesting:

• Complimentary room upgrade
• Free breakfast (usually not included in points stays for Gold members)
• Late checkout

I was pleasantly surprised when the property accepted all my requests. This shows how reaching out politely in advance can make a huge difference.

Check-in Experience

I arrived a little late in the afternoon, and the check-in process was smooth and professional. The staff were welcoming and efficient.

Since my stay was in early December, the hotel lobby had already started Christmas celebrations. A huge, beautifully decorated Christmas tree was placed in the lobby, giving the entire property a festive and luxurious vibe.

One of the highlights of this property is its massive fitness center.The gym is large, modern, and very well equipped.

The outdoor swimming pool is clean and well maintained.

The hotel also offers sports facilities like tennis courts.

There’s a spa and wellness area for complete relaxation.

For fitness enthusiasts or long-stay guests, this hotel is extremely well equipped.

Breakfast Experience – One of the Best in Muscat

Breakfast at JW Marriott Muscat was simply amazing.

The buffet spread was huge and offered:

• Multiple Indian vegetarian options
• International selections
• Freshly prepared items
• Live counters

One unique highlight was fresh coconut water served in an actual coconut, which was a refreshing and thoughtful touch.

The staff were extremely friendly and attentive. They paid attention to every guest and ensured everyone had a comfortable experience.

At checkout, I was even given a small gift — locally made Omani honey — which was a beautiful and memorable gesture. The staff also clicked pictures with me, making the stay feel personal and warm.

Important: Taxi & Location Challenges in Muscat

Now, let’s talk about the only downside.

JW Marriott Muscat is slightly on the outskirts of the city. This means:

• Booking normal taxis via apps can be difficult
• Most available options are luxury taxis, which are expensive
• You may need to walk some distance to get a regular taxi

This issue is common across Muscat, but due to the hotel’s location, it becomes more noticeable here.I personally walked around 500 meters before trying again and luckily got a normal taxi within 10 minutes.

Pro Tip:

Keep contact numbers of a few local taxi drivers handy. Even then, drivers might be busy in other areas and decline requests — so always plan buffer time.

If you have a rental car, this property becomes much more convenient.

Final Verdict – Is JW Marriott Muscat Worth It?

Absolutely yes.
