After an amazing 6 days in Malaysia, it was time to head back to Singapore. On my onward journey, I had flown from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur with Batik Air, but for my return leg, I decided to try AirAsia — Southeast Asia’s most popular low-cost airline. I booked my Kuala Lumpur to Singapore flight through Cleartrip, and it turned out to be the cheapest option available for my travel date.
🕕 Early Morning Departure from Marriott Putrajaya
My flight was scheduled for 8:30 AM, so I left Marriott Putrajaya early in the morning. Having completed online check-in a day before, I expected to have my boarding pass ready on my phone. However, although AirAsia offers web check-in, my boarding pass wasn’t issued online, so I had to visit the counter at the airport for document verification and to collect it manually.
Luckily, the early morning hour worked in my favor — there was no queue at the check-in counter, and the staff were quick and efficient. Before immigration, all cabin baggage was being weighed at a separate checkpoint. AirAsia strictly enforces its 7 kg cabin baggage rule, and mine thankfully came in just under the limit.
🛋️ Lounge Experience at Kuala Lumpur International Airport
After clearing immigration, I made my way to the Travel Club Lounge, which I accessed for free using my Priority Pass. However, finding the lounge wasn’t easy — signages inside Kuala Lumpur Airport are limited, and it took me a few extra minutes to locate it.
The lounge itself was spacious, quiet, and had a good selection of breakfast options. I grabbed some coffee, fruits, and a hot breakfast before heading toward the boarding gate.
🛫 Boarding and Flight Experience
The boarding gate was located quite far from the lounge, and what surprised me was that security checks were done twice — once before entering the gate area and again before boarding the aircraft. This was a new experience for me as usually there’s only a single check.
Boarding for the AirAsia flight from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore started well before the scheduled time, and everything was handled smoothly. I had a window seat, and the aircraft cabin was clean and well-maintained.
As soon as we took off, I was treated to stunning views of the Kuala Lumpur skyline under the morning sun. The takeoff was smooth, and since it’s a short flight of under an hour, there wasn’t much in-flight service. Still, the seats were comfortable, and the overall experience felt pleasant and well-organized.
🛬 Arrival in Singapore
Within no time, we began our descent into Singapore Changi Airport — one of my favorite airports in the world. The flight landed right on time, and disembarkation was quick.
🌟 Final Thoughts
This was my first time flying with AirAsia, and I must say, it left a positive impression. The airline delivered a smooth, on-time, and budget-friendly experience. For a short regional route like Kuala Lumpur to Singapore, AirAsia is definitely a great choice if you’re looking for value without compromising on reliability.
Whether you’re a frequent flyer or a budget traveler, AirAsia offers great connectivity across Southeast Asia, making it an excellent option for short-haul trips.
📌 Travel Tips for AirAsia Flyers:
✅ Check in online early, but carry printed or digital travel documents for verification.
🎒 Weigh your cabin bag — AirAsia is strict about the 7 kg limit.
⏰ Arrive early if you plan to visit the lounge, as gates can be far.
💳 Carry a Priority Pass for complimentary lounge access at Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
✍️ Conclusion
My first AirAsia flight experience from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore was pleasant, punctual, and comfortable — a perfect end to my Malaysia trip. I’d definitely consider flying AirAsia again for future regional routes across Asia.
