If you are looking for luxury hotels near Mumbai International Airport (T2), chances are the JW Marriott Mumbai Sahar will come up on your list. This 5-star Marriott property, located in Andheri East, is one of the most popular airport hotels in Mumbai, offering upscale accommodation, fine dining, and modern facilities.
I recently booked a 1-night stay at JW Marriott Mumbai Sahar using Marriott Bonvoy points through the app. As a Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite member, I was excited to experience their hospitality and compare it with my previous stays at JW Marriott Pune and JW Marriott Bengaluru. Unfortunately, while the property itself is beautiful, my overall experience was disappointing.
Location – Perfect for Airport Travellers
The hotel is located just a short drive from both the domestic and international terminals of Mumbai Airport, making it an ideal choice for transit passengers, business travellers, and families looking for a convenient luxury stay. Its proximity to Andheri East’s business hubs also makes it popular for corporate guests.
The Property and Rooms
The hotel features 588 spacious rooms and suites, each equipped with pillow-top beds, marble bathrooms, high-speed Wi-Fi, and 24-hour room service. Rooms are designed with a modern touch and offer the comfort one expects from the JW Marriott brand.
However, during my stay, I did not receive a complimentary room upgrade despite my Gold Elite status, which was a little disappointing compared to other JW Marriott properties where upgrades are proactively offered.
Dining Experience – JW Café Breakfast Spread
One of the highlights of my stay was the breakfast buffet at JW Café. The spread was vast, offering everything from authentic Indian delicacies to continental dishes. The service was quick and attentive, and the food quality lived up to the Marriott standard.
Outdoor Spaces – JW Garden & Pool Area
The JW Garden area is a peaceful escape within the property, beautifully maintained and perfect for a short walk or relaxation. The pool area was another highlight, offering multiple seating options, cabanas, and a well-designed layout for both leisure and relaxation.
Areas of Improvement
While the property is luxurious, I felt there were several aspects that could have been better:
1. Pre-arrival communication –
Unlike other Marriott properties, there was no call or email prior to arrival to confirm check-in time or ask if I was celebrating a special occasion.
2. Gold Elite recognition –
No handwritten welcome note or in-room welcome amenity was provided after check-in.
3. Room Upgrade –
Despite availability, no upgrade was offered for Gold Elite status, whereas other JW Marriott hotels (like Pune and Bengaluru) have upgraded me in advance.
4. Check-in Information –
At the front desk, no details were shared about hotel facilities, executive lounge access, or special amenities.
These small but important details matter, especially for loyal Marriott Bonvoy members.
💳 Using Marriott Bonvoy Points to book free stay
I redeemed 27000 Marriott Bonvoy points for 1 nights stay, making the luxury experience even more rewarding. This property offers great value for points, considering other marriott properties are in higher range.
Final Thoughts – JW Marriott Mumbai Sahar Review
While JW Marriott Mumbai Sahar offers luxury accommodation, world-class dining, and convenient proximity to Mumbai Airport, the service and loyalty recognition fell short compared to my experiences at other JW Marriott hotels in India.
For a first-time visitor or someone booking with points for a free night, it’s a good option thanks to its location and facilities. However, for loyal Marriott guests expecting elite treatment, this property may feel underwhelming.
What was even more disappointing is that after my stay, I left a review on Google with an average rating and clearly highlighted my concerns. Even after more than a year, the hotel management has neither replied to that review nor reached out to me directly. This shows a clear lack of interest in guest feedback and customer experience, something I’ve never faced at other JW Marriott properties in India.
⭐ Highlights:
Breakfast at JW Café, JW Garden, Pool Area
⚠️ Disappointments:
Lack of elite recognition, no upgrade, no pre-arrival communication
Would I stay here again? Definitely not. I would rather stay at another luxury property opened in 2025 Fairmont Mumbai . For a more memorable JW Marriott experience, I’d recommend JW Marriott Pune or JW Marriott Bengaluru , both of which impressed me far more.
